Just a short piece

Jamie is remembered by so many, each in their own way. He had many friends, some old, from his school days that he'd not seen for a few years, along with many new ones. I know he was happy when he was able to track down some of his old school friends on Facebook & catch up with what they'd been doing since they last saw each other. Jamie, sadly, suffered with his mental health & due to this had spent several years in hospital, firstly in Wathwood Hospital, Rotherham, then at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The latter being where I met him. He was so honest about his past, including his problems with drugs, not something he was proud of, but wanted me to know the truth from the beginning. He was a breath of fresh air, not everyone could have been so open & such a gentleman too. He always opened doors for me & carried my bags, no matter how heavy the were. He rarely wasn't smiling & every opportunity he had he would be helping others. Once met, never forgotten. His life hadn't been an easy one & we shared many similar experiences. To start with we built up a solid friendship, getting to know each properly, sharing stories from our past & our hopes, dreams as well as our fears of the present & future. From this friendship our love blossomed & grew & eventually we became a couple six months later. Then after living together for nigh on two years, we sealed our love for one another & married. Our time together was filled with much happiness. We had a deep understanding of one another & supported each other through our own personal struggles. He truly was the love of my life, my best friend, lover & soulmate & I'm grateful for the time we had together. Although our time together was to be cut short by him dying, the four years we did have are something that I will hold onto til we meet again. There is now a void in my life that can never be filled.
